Fernhill Football (Soccer) Club was established in 1925 in the Illawarra Region of New South Wales, Australia. In 2008 we returned to Premier League after a 7 year layoff in First Division, of the Illawarra Football Association.
Our Ground, "Ray Robinson Field" is located between Towradgi and Corrimal Beaches just North of Wollongong. Entrance Via Moray Street - Off Towradgi Road.
June 16th 2001 was a special day in Fernhill Soccer Club's 75year history by the renaming of the enclosed ground at Towradgi Park to the Ray Robinson Field. We have named the ground after a very special person who devoted so much of his time to improve the ground over his 18 years with the Club. Ray Robinson Field
Ray was a kind man to his family and to his beloved Fernhill.
He would spend countless hours down at the ground along with his mates, the Jones, the Studholmes and the Boyces to make sure that the players had a respectable ground to play on and the amenities were suitable to all players and supporters.
Our club hopes to maintain the standard that Ray achieved and to continue to develop our facilities that would make Ray proud. We honor a man that will always be in our hearts, and by renaming the park to the Ray Robinson Field it is a deserving tribute that I'm sure his family and friends would agree he thoroughly deserved. We hope he is always there in spirit, giving the players his support for a win just like he gave the club for so many years. All the best Ray.
